Attila Yaprak

Prof. Dr. Attila Yaprak is a Professor of Marketing and International Business (Emeritus) in the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, and a Network Faculty member at Sabanci University (Turkey). He served as the Director of the Ilitch School’s Doctoral Program (2013-2024), its Center for International Business Studies (1991-2004), and Associate Dean for Research (1994-1998). He has also served as the Executive Secretary of the Academy of International Business (AIB, 1992-1994). An elected Fellow of the AIB, he has been serving as the AIB’s Historian (2020-2025) and is now the AIB Fellows’ Historian (2023-2026). He holds a PhD degree in international business and marketing (Georgia State University), and MBA and BS degrees from Indiana University. 

 

Dr. Yaprak's research has been published in many scholarly journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Journal of World Business, Journal of Advertising, Journal of International Marketing, International Marketing Review, International Business Review, Management International Review, Journal of International Management, Political Psychology, Journal of Product and Brand Management, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Marketing, R&D Management, International Journal of Conflict Management, International Journal of Industrial Engineering, Journal of East West Business, Quality Management Journal, Simulation and Gaming Journal, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, and Journal of Global Marketing. He co-edited the Handbook of Emerging Market Multinational Corporations (2015), Globalization, the Multinational Firm and Emerging Economies (2000), and Conducting Market Research for International Business (2009). He is co-author of Historical Evolution of International Business: Growth Trajectory of a Field of Study and Cross-cultural Consumer Behavior (2025). He serves on the editorial review boards of many journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies. He has been listed among the top 25 contributors to international marketing knowledge among 2300+ authors over a 20-year period (1995-2015).

 

A winner of many teaching awards, including one from the Academy of Marketing Science (2007), he has held teaching and research positions at business schools in Austria, China, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, and the United States (Michigan, Michigan State). He has taught in faculty development programs in international business (S. Carolina, Memphis, and Georgia State Universities), and in executive development programs. He has worked with government officials (Thailand, China, the Philippines), and worked with senior executives (Turkey).
